Day 8 - Innsbruck Hills Hike

From the Golden Roof by our hotel we joined a guided hike into the hills, a mini-peak called Lanser Kopf. After so much old-city walking we enjoyed the return to nature, European style with a conveniently located mountain hut where we ate homemade cake. The weather turned hot midday, so we found the conveniently located bus stop to ride back to town.
As you can see from my Alltrails recording, it's not difficult to get lost, nor is finding an alternate route. It was a very local experience.
Have you ever seen miniature cows? Despite growing up on a dairy farm, I'd never even heard of them. They are a rare breed suited to Alpine life. Adults are only as big as goats. A newborn calf resembled a puppy. So cute and practical. I wish my dad were around. He'd be amazed and amused.
Innsbruck is a great place to hike and ski, but it's best to have a car to find the trailheads. The buses are efficient, but it may take a couple of transfers and/or cable cars just to start hiking.
Back to Vienna tomorrow after a morning stroll along the Inn River.
